Dr. Jeannie Shen is a fellowship-trained breast surgeon who sees patients in Pasadena and performs surgery in nearby community hospitals. She is board certified in general surgery, and works closely with medical oncologists, radiation oncologists and plastic reconstructive surgeons to provide coordinated, personalized and multidisciplinary care to patients who have breast cancer, breast diseases, or are at high risk for breast cancer. She is fluent in Mandarin Chinese. Dr. Shen completed her undergraduate studies at UCLA, graduating summa cum laude. She then earned her medical degree and completed her general surgery residency at the University of California San Diego. Afterwards, she completed a one year Breast Surgical Oncology fellowship at the University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. She started her academic career at the City of Hope Cancer Center, and went on to spend over a decade in private practice as a dedicated breast surgeon. During this time, she was co-director for the Breast Cancer program and director of Breast Surgery at Huntington Hospital, where she oversaw the clinical cancer research program and also taught surgical residents. She joined the UCLA Health team in 2018. Despite her busy clinical practice, Dr. Shen continues to pursue her passion for research. She works alongside UCLA Health medical oncologists to recruit patients for clinical trials. She is also the Principal Investigator for several national cooperative group clinical trials, and has designed and implemented several PI-initiated studies at Huntington Hospital. As a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, Dr. Shen participates in the Mastery of Breast Surgery program. She also remains committed to providing outreach and education regarding breast cancer and breast health to the community. Dr. Shen was born and raised in Southern California. In her free time she enjoys reading cozy mystery novels, cooking up new recipes in the kitchen, and most of all, spending time with her two little girls. |
