Amanda Scott, MD

About Dr. Amanda Scott is board certified in Internal Medicine and practices primary care in Ventura.
A focus of Dr. Scott’s clinical work is to clearly and effectively communicate and form real connections with her patients. She hopes to make her patients feel supported, which can lead to deeper conversations about their lives and their health, more informed decision making, and better overall care. As a Clinical Instructor at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, she also brings this focus on patient communication into the classroom when teaching medical students.
Dr. Scott was raised in the foothills of Pasadena. Early in her career she was inspired by a mentor who had studied medicine in Dublin, Ireland, so she went on to do the same, and earned her medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. This experience broadened her perspective on the healthcare system, and also helped her form a strong foundation of clinical skills and bedside manner. She then returned to California, where she completed her Internal Medicine residency training at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
Before joining UCLA Health, Dr. Scott spent over six years at a tribal clinic in Santa Ynez, working for over three years there as the medical director.  This experience of working on a reservation furthered her cultural awareness and respect for indigenous traditions and practices, while also strengthening her management skills and her ability to lead, mitigate conflict, and multitask.
When she’s not working, she enjoys gardening and visiting local museums, beaches and hiking trails in Santa Barbara with her husband and their two children.
