Joshua Roland, MD

About Dr. Joshua Roland is a sleep medicine physician who practices in downtown LA. He focuses on comprehensive sleep medicine and improving health and wellness through better sleep. His clinical expertise includes sleep apnea and other sleep-disordered breathing, central disorders of hypersomnolence, insomnia, restless leg syndrome, parasomnias, and circadian rhythm disorders. He is board-certified in family medicine in addition to sleep medicine and sees both adult and pediatric patients.
After earning his medical degree at St. George's University, Dr. Roland completed an internship and residency at Drexel University College of Medicine. He then completed sleep medicine fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine. Prior to medical training, he received his bachelor's degree in psychology at Temple University and assisted in conducting clinical trials on sleep therapies.
Dr. Roland has completed additional training in cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) and has participated in research on novel treatments for idiopathic hypersomnia. He has contributed to book chapters on sleep disorders, and at present, is on the American Academy for Sleep Medicine's task force for developing guidelines for managing REM behavior disorder. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Roland is a clinical instructor at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.
Dr. Roland grew up in the Philadelphia area but has been enjoying the better climate of Los Angeles. He lives downtown and in his free time enjoys music, writing, sports, the beach, and Zoom visits with his niece back in Pennsylvania.
