Dr. Nida Qadir joined the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at UCLA as a Clinical Assistant Professor in 2017. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at the New York University School of Medicine, followed by a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. After completing her training, she joined the faculty of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, where she served as Assistant Professor of Medicine and Neurology, as well as Associate Director of the Surgical ICU until she joined the UCLA faculty. Her areas of professional interest include critical care outcomes-based research, clinical informatics, ultrasonography in the ICU, and simulation in medical education. Her current research focuses on acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). She serves as faculty for the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP) Critical Care Ultrasonography course, as well as the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO) Adult ECMO training course. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease, Critical Care Medicine, and Neurocritical Care. As an intensivist, Dr. Qadir focuses on the diagnosis and management of life-threatening conditions representing the extremes of human disease. She integrates the most advanced evidence-based medical practice with an understanding of patients values to provide individualized and patient-centered management plans. She spends the majority of her time in the ICU, where the care of critically ill patients begins. However, due to advances in medicine, the number of patients surviving an ICU admission continues to grow, as does the need for post-ICU care. Dr. Qadirs outpatient practice focuses on the unique needs of survivors of critical illness, particularly individuals who have survived acute respiratory failure. |
