Juan C. Alejos, MD

About Juan C. Alejos, MD, currently serves as the Medical Director of the Pediatric Heart Transplant/Cardiomyopathy Program. He started and is the Director of the Pediatric Pulmonary Hypertension program. He is a Clinical Professor at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA in Pediatric Cardiology.
Dr. Alejos received his medical degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and completed an internship, residency, and fellowship at the UCLA Medical Center. His areas of research interest include the use of pulmonary vasodilator therapies in congenital heart disease especially those with single ventricle physiology. He is also active in research involving the treatment of cardiomyopathy and outcomes research pertaining to pediatric cardiac transplantation.
Dr. Alejos is also the president and founder of Hearts with Hope Foundation. Hearts with Hope is a non-profit foundation founded in 2005 that sends medical teams to underserved countries to provide medical and humanitarian support to children with congenital heart disease. The medical teams train the country's physicians on procedures and surgeries that can vastly improve a child's quality of life. All medical equipment and services are provided at no cost to the child's family.
