Andrew L. Da Lio, MD

About Andrew Da Lio, MD was born in Ironwood, Michigan. He earned his bachelor's and medical degrees from the University of Michigan. He completed his residency in general surgery at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and his plastic surgery residency at the USC – LAC Medical Center. After finishing his residency training, he completed an additional subspecialty fellowship in microvascular surgery at UCLA.
Dr. Da Lio joined the faculty of the UCLA Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery in 1997. During his tenure, Dr. Da Lio led the division's quality assurance committee, overhauled the resident curriculum, and served as the Director of Microsurgery until 2011. In August 2011, he was named Chief of the UCLA Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Dr. Da Lio's research focuses on outcomes studies in both autologous tissue and implant-based breast reconstruction. These clinical outcomes studies utilize data drawn from the operative volume generated by UCLA and databases developed by the US Department of Health and Human Services to analyze treatment guidelines, procedures, complications, and outcomes for a variety of plastic surgical procedures, including complex microsurgical flaps as well as more routine general plastic surgical cases.The goal of these studies is to document the correlation between medical center volumes and patient outcomes.
Dr. Da Lio is committed to the educational process at UCLA and is actively involved with the education of the students, residents, and fellows.
