Caroline Y. Kuo, MD

About Dr. Caroline Kuo is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Allergy, Immunology, and Rheumatology at UCLA. She attended medical school at the Keck School of Medicine at USC, completed her pediatrics residency at Harbor-UCLA, Allergy & Immunology fellowship at UCLA, and is board-certified in Allergy & Immunology.
Dr. Kuo's clinical practice focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of both pediatric and adult patients with immunodeficiencies and recurrent infections. For more than forty years, the Division has provided clinical care to patients with primary immune deficiencies and has made seminal contributions to improving the treatment of individuals with these disorders. In recognition of these efforts, the Division has been named a Center of Excellence for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Primary Immunodeficiency by the Jeffrey Modell Foundation.
Dr. Kuo's research investigates novel therapies for rare immunologic diseases, and her work has been funded by the UCLA Children's Discovery and Innovation Institute, Primary Immune Deficiency Treatment Consortium, Clinical Immunology Society, NIH CHRC, the Hyper-IgM Foundation, and the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) amongst others. She currently serves as the UCLA Site Principal Investigator for a Phase I/II clinical trial for patients with X-Linked Chronic Granulomatous Disease funded by CIRM and is an investigator on other gene therapy trials for primary immune deficiencies at UCLA.
