About The Practice Alexander D. Stein, MD, FAAD, FASDS, FASMS, is a board certified dermatologist and Mohs surgeon practicing at Stein Dermatology and Skin Surgery in Chula Vista, California. He specializes in the management of skin cancer through complex skin cancer surgery and reconstructions. His expertise stems from unique and extensive clinical experiences as a dermatologist, skin surgeon, and oncologist. Dr. Stein is also board certified in internal medicine and oncology (cancer medicine). His broad and specialized training makes him an exceptional Mohs surgeon and clinician. Dr. Stein graduated with honors in 1994 and has more than 22 years of diverse experiences that range from patient clinical practice, university teaching, and academic research at top-ranked universities in the United States. Dr. Stein is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society of Dermatological Surgery, in addition to being a member of the American Society of Mohs Surgery. Dr. Stein received his Doctor of Medicine in 1994 from the Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania – where he graduated top 1% of his class. He completed an internal medicine residency at the New York Medical College in New York. He was given the honor of being the Chief Medical Resident during his last year of training. He subsequently completed his three-year medical oncology and hematology fellowship in 2005 at New York Medical College, New York. Dr. Stein moved to Washington DC to function as an assistant professor of medicine, attending physician, and cutaneous oncologist at Georgetown University from 2006 to 2008. Dr. Stein subsequently completed a prestigious fellowship in advanced dermatological therapies and clinical research in dermatology at the University of California, San Diego, followed by a residency in dermatology at the same institution. He graduated in 2012 and continued to work as a dermatologist, skin oncologist, and skin surgeon in Southern California. Dr. Stein is the author of many articles in top dermatology and oncology journals, a presenter at leading US and international conferences, and a member of several editorial boards at top-rated dermatological and cancer medicine journals. He has received several awards of excellence in clinical care and clinical research, acknowledging his contributions to the fields of dermatology and skin cancer. Outside of the office, Dr. Stein enjoys the sunshine and is delighted to be in San Diego. He also enjoys music, dancing, and is a former speed ice skating regional champion. Dr. Stein is a Fellow and a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the American Society for Mohs Medicine, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. |
